Dinosaur Themed Room

The boys dinosaur themed room is COMPLETE! And I couldn’t be more happy with it.  At 0ur previous house we had bunk beds, but this space really didn’t fit bunk bed well. We thought the boys would be really bummed about it but they loved it. We knew having 4 kids that we would likely need to have 2 of our boys share a room as we wanted to keep our guest room for when we have family visit.

Having all boys does make this a lot easier especially when it comes to decorating.

I have found it has been beneficial having the boys share rooms for a few different reasons.

Space – As I mentioned this allows us to keep the guest bedroom. If you have limited space this is a great way to capitalize on space.

Bonding – Calvin is 6 and Cyrus is 3, they have grown so much closer since staying in the same room. Although we do make sure they go to bed, it is pretty cute hearing them giggle with each other.

Organization – This does cut down on the amount of rooms that get messy with kids. We keep their room very minimalistic, because with those boys if we have extra storage and items it will get messy.  Cyrus has a bad habit of pulling everything out if he is bored and fighting sleep, so we try to keep the room simple.

I was showing the boys different bedroom themes and they both picked the Dinosaur theme from Pottery Barn Kids, I am not going to lie, I am glad they did because I loved the modern flare I was able to incorporate.

When deciding if sharing a room was the best option I did look at my children’s personality.  I wouldn’t have forced this situation if I didn’t feel it would be successful.  The boys first started sharing rooms when Cyrus was almost 2.

I do make sure the boys have their own individual items to allow them to have their own identity. Not to mention I do think it is important to give the boys some time to retreat in different parts of the house if they every need space. We haven’t experienced any issues to date with the boys not wanting to share rooms.  The only compliant is Cyrus often tries to keep Calvin up.  We will hear Cyrus upstairs whispering “Calvin” to try and wake him up. HAHA.

Every child and personality is different so really assess each child.

I know it can be tough to find cute boy room themes, so I am sharing a complete list of all the products I used to bring this room to life.
